Study Purpose: To increase awareness within our local community about the risk for a common disease called Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and how it impacts health. Many people have this disease and do not know it. Risk factors include obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
To be enrolled in this study, you must meet certain requirements. If you believe you are at risk for NAFLD and are interested in learning about the health of your liver, you may be eligible to participate if you meet the following criteria:
- 40 years old or more
- BMI 27.5 kg/m2 or more
Study Duration: up to 4 weeks
- Up to 2 separate visits to the AdventHealth Translational Research Institute
- Vital signs, height, weight, waist and hip circumference
- Blood draw
- Fibroscan (liver health test)
- MRI (Optional)
There is no compensation offered, but we will provide the results of your tests and educational materials.
