Having type 2 diabetes can cause many different health problems, for example, chronic kidney disease. When you have chronic kidney disease caused by type 2 diabetes, this is called ‘diabetic kidney disease’. Diabetic kidney disease can progress and become worse over several years. A prior completed study showed that a medicine called semaglutide might slow down the growth and worsening of diabetic kidney disease. We are doing this study to look at how well semaglutide works when compared to the ‘dummy medicine’ in slowing the growth and worsening of diabetic kidney disease.
