The size of the endotracheal tube (ETT) is based on a baby's weight, not on the size of the trachea. This practice increases the risk of selecting an ETT that is inappropriately small and leads to sub-optimal breathing support. We are aiming to determine whether measuring the size of the trachea using ultrasound helps us better select the correct ETT size.
